David Nadeau Bernatchez is an artist and researcher working at the intersection of film production, writing, and the performing arts. In 2013, he defended a PhD in history and anthropology on Congolese urban music and spaces. Today, he creates and works across Quebec, Europe, and French-speaking Africa. Particularly active in cinema and audiovisual fields (Red Devil, 2024; Rumba Rules, New Genealogies, 2020; Ludovica, 2018), he also writes, performs in various formats, and collaborates with a range of artists and collectives. The themes of rooting and uprooting are central to his work.
In the fall of 2024, he was selected as part of the cross-residency between the FCVQ and the Festival Vues du Québec in Florac (France) to develop the writing for his documentary project La persistance des choses.
