Anam Abbas is a Pakistani and a Canadian filmmaker. She is working on her first feature documentary Showgirls of Pakistan (2020) as a producer and cinematographer, which premiered at IDFA in the same year. This Stained Dawn is her first feature documentary as a director. Her other works include the short fiction film Saya, co-directed with Fawzia Mirza (Chicago International Film Festival 2019), the web series_ Ladies Only (_2016) and the short documentary Lucky Irani Circus (Toronto Reel Asian Film festival 2015). Anam Abbas is also one of the founders of the Documentary Association of Pakistan, winner of the Berlinale Footprints Fellowship 2020, whose jury included Wim Wenders. She is a member of the Garam Anday music group, who refer to theselves as an "angry girl band". She is currently working on an original fiction series based on the band.
