Carmen Garcia grew up in Paris, where she studied literature. For several years, she was a member of an amateur theatre company. Moving to Montreal in 1973, Carmen Garcia worked and studied publishing, journalism and communications. From 1983 onwards, she worked as a documentary producer. Although primarily a producer, she is also involved in research and scriptwriting. In 1988, she co-founded Argus Films. In 1994, she began directing, while continuing to script and produce.
