Colin Nixon was born in 1993 in Cowansville and lived there until he was 17. He then went on to study film at CEGEP de Saint-Hyacinthe, and then at the Université du Québec à Montréal, where he was awarded the Best Documentary Hope Scholarship (ACIC-ONF). His short films include Calico directed in 2014, Tombola Cowansville in 2015 as well as Jeez in the same year. In 2016, In The Jam Jar was released, an intimate look at the last days of 81-year-old Joan. Starring France Castel and Alain Goulem, the film won the Best Short Film award at the Festival du nouveau cinéma de Montréal. Both a writer and a director, Colin Nixon has concurrently worked at a summer camp for people who live with mental disabilities or are on the autism spectrum. In 2018, the short film -21 was released, with almost the entire cast made up of individuals living with Down syndrome. With this film, the director won the INIS award at the annual Prends ça court !
