A passionate filmmaker, Denys Desjardins has worked in all areas of the industry, from camera work to writing, researching, editing and directing. In 1990, he founded his own production company, Les Films du Centaure. Since then, he has directed and produced some twenty films and several web projects, both in the private sector and for the National Film Board of Canada, where he also collaborated on the writing and production of DVD box sets featuring the works of Gilles Groulx, Michel Brault and Pierre Perrault. As a militant filmmaker, he has been actively involved in the defense of artistic institutions for thirty years. He has served on various boards of directors, including those of the Soirée des Jutra and the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois, and is a founding member of Québec Cinéma. Producer and designer of cinemaduquebec.com, he also founded a film festival on Isle-aux-Coudres: DOCfest pour la suite du DOC.
