Emily Gan
Emily Gan is a Montreal filmmaker, photographer, video artist, musician and yoga teacher. She has a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in Communication Studies and Photography from Concordia University (Canada). She has gained a reputation as a trusted collaborator for independent artists as well as organisations big and small in the arts and education sectors. Emily has travelled across Canada, the US, India, and Malaysia working on various independent documentaries. She worked closely with editor Martin Pensa, as assistant editor on Dallas Buyers Club , directed by Jean-Marc Vallée. Her first feature-length narrative film that she co-created with her partner, Daniel Schachter is now in post-production. Emily is currently also developing a short horror fiction based on a Chinese folktale from her childhood. Cavebirds , Emily’s first feature documentary, received the Emerging Canadian Filmmaker Award at Hot Docs 2019.
