Born in 1962 in Arthabaska (Québec), Esther Valiquette worked as a camera assistant and lighting technician. Her most notable works include Le récit d'A. (1990), Extenderis (1993), and Le singe bleu (1992), which won several awards, including Best Short Film at the 11th Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois in Montreal and the Genie Award for Best Short Documentary in 1993. She passed away in the fall of 1994 from complications related to AIDS.
