Documentary filmmaker and editor baed in Montreal, Fanie Pelletier holds a double bachelor's degree in social sciences and cinema. Alongside her master's degree in cinema, she directed the documentary essay Faded photograph (2016), which was selected in several festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand, and won the Best Short Documentary award at the RVQC as well as the Jury's Choice award at the RIDM's emerging filmmakers' night. In 2017, she directed the film Vagabonds for Radio-Canada's Les grands reportages. In 2019, she joined La Distributrice de Films and worked on the distribution of Quebec films. Bloom (2022) is her first feature-length documentary, recipient of the Best First Feature Film award at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival. Her approach aims to explore the cinematic and poetic potential of documentary while prompting reflection on social structures and representation.
