Born in Italy, Giulia Frati is currently based in Tiohtià/Montreal. She has been working in the audiovisual industry for over 20 years, wearing multiple hats that have allowed her to collaborate as a producer, production manager, director of photography, camera operator, and sometimes even editor on numerous large-scale projects (fiction, documentaries, animated series, web series, recordings of music, dance, and theater). As a director, she has created social documentaries and experimental short films. Her feature-length film _Istanbul Echoes_ won the Iris Award for Best Sound in a Documentary in 2020. Giulia is also the president of the board of Makila, a non-profit cooperative, and co-creator of the Pitch Cuban Hat. Since 2009, these two initiatives have enabled her to support creators from underrepresented communities. Giulia Frati is now developing fiction projects.
