Irvic D'Olivier is a sound recordist, director, producer and radio instructor. He lives and works in Brussels. For the past 20 years, he has been making documentaries and radio creations, solo or in collaboration. He has taken his microphones to the nights of Brussels, to the Amazon rainforest, to the top of a volcano, to the natural parks of Costa Rica and to many other places. Interested in transmission, he teaches sound and radio writing. He is the founder and artistic coordinator of SilenceRadio.org, which from 2005 to 2012 was the first creative podcast site in Belgium, bringing together 124 international artists. He frequently collaborates with Guillaume Abgrall, using radio as a pretext for encounter and encounter as a pretext for radio. Their first co-production, Canis Lupus Belgicus (Audio Recording Award - SCAM 2017), focuses on the ties we maintain with the territories we inhabit. Their second co-production, Quand la mer monte (2023), can be seen as the second part of a diptych that portrays Belgium and its borders.
