Author, playwright and filmmaker Jean-François Aubé lives and works in Gaspésie, Québec. He studied philosophy, history and film at university, after which he directed a dozen short films, all of which were screened at festivals in Quebec and Europe. In 2010, his short film Des bruits de fourchettes won the Audience Award at festival Les Percéides, and was also selected for the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois tour. In 2013, he directed the feature documentary Poussière sur la ville, shot in Senegal (RVCQ 2014). His writing projects include the collection of short stories Les yeux de la Nation (Éditions Sémaphore, 2014) and the novel La mort d'un commis de dépanneur (Lévesque éditeur, 2020). His play L'apnée du soleil toured the Gaspé Peninsula in 2022. His most recent play, La manière noire, was read in Carleton-sur-Mer in 2023.
