A French national, Jennifer Burford directed experimental films, mainly between 1978 and 1993, and taught experimental cinema at the University of Paris VIII. In 1990-1991, she directed the short film Montréal '90 about Image & Nation, the 3rd edition of the Festival courts Queer, formerly the Montreal Gay & Lesbian Film and Video Festival. In 1992, she directed the film SIDA/AIDS. In 1997, she wrote a doctoral thesis on the cinematographic and pictorial work of Robert Breer.
