Justine Triet is a French filmmaker, screenwriter, actress, and editor born in 1978. She graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Since then, she has directed various films that explore the individual's place within the group dynamic. She began her career by directing several documentaries as well as the short film Two Ships, which won an award at the Berlinale in 2012. Her debut feature film, Age of Panic, was presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014 and received significant critical acclaim. This recognition was subsequently confirmed with the comedy Victoria, which received five nominations at the 2017 César Awards, and Sibyl in 2019. She won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023 for Anatomy of a Fall, becoming the third woman in the festival's history to receive this award. Through her works, Triet demonstrates a keen and complex observation of human behavior, always infused with humor.
