At 31, Louis Dionne, a Montréal filmmaker and video artist learns that he is HIV positive. His experience leads to the creation of Comment vs dirais-je?, a documentary which records his parents' reactions to his condition. The project for a creative support group takes shape: Louis Dionne, board member of the Diffusion gais et lesbiennes du Québec, organizes a project to give people who are HIV positive the opportunity to make a short film. The results were 5 vignettes signed by 5 different authors, the whole entitled Le Sida n'est pas une maladie honteuse...n'est-ce pas? which was presented at the festival, Image & Nation Montréal, in November 1995. Some of his video work have been widely shown at international events, festivals and museums. Others are aimed at smaller audiences, and a few remain private.
