Luis Carlos de Alencar is a Brazilian documentary filmmaker active since 1999. His work is focused upon social movements, giving voice to dissident thought, as well as struggles for identity recognition related to gender identity in particular. His film Invisible Men (2019) received the Best International Documentary Award at the Trans Stellar Festival in the U.S. as well as the Best Director Award at the International Film Festival of Sexual and Gender Diversity in Brazil. He has also directed the documentaries Genocides and Movements (2021) and It's Not The First Time We Fight For Our Love (2022).
