Born in Lyon in 1972, Martine Deyres first studied theatre and worked as an actress before turning to documentary film. Trained at the Ateliers Varan then at Lussas (Master 2 creative documentary), she directed Lieu commun (2003) and White Spirit (2006). She has been interested in the world of psychiatry for several years. While working on the preparation of her feature film on the asylum of Saint-Alban, she met the famous psychiatrist Jean Oury with whom she directed a long film composed of interviews, Le Sous-bois des insensés (2015).
Le sous-bois des insensés, une traversée avec Jean Oury
From his office at La Borde Clinic, Jean Oury recounts a life spent hosting madness. Valuable testimony of one of the major players in twentieth century psychiatry, this film invites us to share the quality of a meeting whose stakes exceed the clinical field from all sides. By drawing us closer to a subtle knowledge of psychosis, He sends everyone back to an essential reconquest of humanity.
