Mattia Colombo is an Italian filmmaker born in 1982. He studied painting at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts in 2007 and documentary filmmaking at the IED in Venice in 2009. His first short documentary Il Velo (2009), an enchanting tale about a small community of nuns, was selected for several international festivals. His next film, Il Pensiero della mano (2012), is a visual poem about artisans, passion and the future of work. He then shot Il Desiderio, an experiment that was conceived, filmed and edited in five days, during a workshop with director Michelangelo Frammartino. In 2015, he directed Trees that Walk, followed by I Wanna Sleep with You, which premiered at the Cinéma du Réel Festival in Paris. In 2023, he co-directed Pure Unknown with Valentina Cicogna, presented at RIDM.
