Following numerous travels to some of the most remote corners of Asia, Canadian photographer and filmmaker Maude Plante-Husaruk began using her camera to document human subjects with a cultural and social focus, with particular interest in isolated cultures in India, Nepal, Central Asia, and the Middle East. She co-directed with Maxime Lacoste-Lebuis the short film The Botanist (2016) as well as the feature documentary Far Beyond the High Valleys (2021), both of which have gained recognition at festivals and won several awards. Driven by a desire to deepen her mastery of photography and documentary filmmaking, she continues to work on several long-term projects.
