Meryam Joobeur is a Canadian-Tunisian director living in Montreal. She graduated from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. Her first short documentary, Gods, Weeds and Revolutions (2012), brought her to national and international attention. In 2017, she ventured into fiction with the short film Born in The Maelstrom starring Sasha Lane. In 2018, she directed Brotherhood, which, in addition to receiving an Oscar nomination, won over 72 awards at festivals, including the award for Best Canadian Short Film at TIFF. She recently co-founded the production company Instinct Bleu with Sarra Ben Hassen. Her first feature-length fiction film Who Do I Belong To was selected for the official competition at the 74th Berlinale.
