Michel Lamothe lives and works in Montreal. After studying mechanical engineering at Université Laval, he went on to study film with Charles Gagnon at Concordia. Since then, he has pursued a parallel career as a photographer and filmmaker. Michel Lamothe has exhibited in Quebec, Canada and Europe, and his films have been shown at several international festivals. In 2000, a monograph on his work entitled Même les cigales dormaient was published by J'ai Vu.

Created without a script and using just 600 feet of film, this student short freely blends images and sounds, the latter serving as echoes of the popular psyche, already foreshadowing _City Dawn_.
