Morten Skallerud, born in 1954, is a Norwegian cinematographer and film director renowned for his poetic approach to visual storytelling and his exceptional expertise in "nature animation". Based in Oslo, he leads Camera Magica, his own production company dedicated to innovative and experimental cinema. Skallerud gained international acclaim with A Year Along the Abandoned Road (1991), which has been showcased at over 300 film festivals and has won 12 major awards. His work is celebrated for its technical mastery and his remarkable ability to capture the poetic beauty and solitude of natural landscapes in striking detail.
