Natyvel Pontalier is a Belgian documentary filmmaker from Gabon. She graduated from the Lussas Documentary School and has made several films, including The Silent Club (2014), about deafness in Gabon. In her new documentary On Zenith's Edge (2021), she shares with us her research on her ancestors and their ancient traditions, from Brussels to Ebolo, her home village, finely examining the missing history and colonization.
Natyvel comes from a people in Gabon - the Fangs - where the dead never leave the living. But since becoming Christians, they can no longer hear them. Lost between what she knows and what she sees, the director leads a spiritual quest that reveals the history of a traditional religion that has not been passed on.
