Nicolas Wagnières was born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1971 to a Serbian mother. He frequently collaborates as a videographer with stage directors and choreographers in Geneva (Noemi Lapzeson, Jérôme Richer) while working on documentary projects. Hotel Jugoslavija (2017) is his first feature film. After graduating as a structural engineering draughtsman, he spent the 90’s as a record store manager, music producer and independent DJ. He then undertook Film studies at the Fine Arts School of Geneva. He graduated in 2005 and stayed five more years as a research assistant. In 2018, he produced a visual tool that is useful both in educational and archival contexts about contemporary dance practice: Looking for found steps.
Erected in New Belgrade in 1969, Hotel Jugoslavija took on mythical proportions.
