Renaud Lessard
Renaud Lessard grew up near Ottawa and in New Delhi. As a young adult, he had his first experience on a film set in Bollywood. He then fell in love with Iranian cinema and, while at university, developed a deep fascination with the unique cultural landscape of his native Quebec. He graduated from Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in 2015. His short films have been screened and awarded at numerous festivals across North America, Europe, and Asia. Renaud Lessard approaches his work as a screenwriter, director, and producer with ambition and empathy. Barbaracadabra (2025) is his second feature co-directed with another filmmaker, following Mad Dog Labine (2018), which he co-directed with Jonathan Beaulieu-Cyr.
