Rita Azavedo Gomes is an artist who works in theater, opera and film. She first collaborated closely with professor, critic and director of the Portuguese Cinematheque João Bénard da Costa, an institution she joined in 1993. It was there that she built her reputation for her graphic design work on film catalogs and film-related publications. Her films have been screened and awarded prizes at international festivals such as Montreal, Bafici, Venice and Jeonju. A retrospective of her work was held in Buenos Aires in 2014.
