Sylvie Van Brabant
Co-founder of Productions du Rapide-Blanc with Serge Giguère, Sylvie Van Brabant has directed the organization with ardor and rigor from the start. She has produced several award-winning films in Quebec and internationally, such as Perfect (2016), The Sex Trade (2015), Anticosti: The Hunt for Extreme Oil (2014) and Chercher le courant (2010). In addition to contributing to the production of the majority of Rapide-Blanc’s films, Sylvie Van Brabant is also a filmmaker. She has made outstanding films recognized for their undeniable social impact. Her most recent film, Earth Keepers (2009), has won numerous awards, including Best Canadian Feature Film at Planet in Focus in 2009. Sylvie Van Brabant has been campaigning for auteur documentaries for over 20 years. In addition of sitting on the executive commitee of Doc Quebec and l'Observatoire du documentaire, she was a member of the board of directors of Hot Docs, ARRQ and Doc Quebec. In 1990, she started the Urgence documentaire movement.
