Tony Asimakopoulos is a director and editor currently based in Montreal. Tony studied film at Concordia University and made the award-winning shorts Jimmy Fingers (1991) and Mama’s Boy (1992), which played the Toronto International Film Festival as well as Montreal, Locarno, Götburg & Melbourne. After recovering from a severe drug problem and depression, he was featured in the documentary Confessions of a Rabid Dog, by fellow recovering addict John L’Ecuyer, then worked to develop a groundbreaking video-apprenticeship program for youth-at-risk in Ottawa. Returning to film & television work, he wrote & directed the dramatic feature Horsie’s Retreat (2004) at the Canadian Film Centre, and the docudrama series Canadian Casefiles (2005/2006) for Global Television. His work as an editor includes Family Motel (2007), and the feature doc Rip! A Remix Manifesto (2008). In 2012, he directed his first feature film A Fortunate Son produced by EyeSteelFilm.
