Travis Wilkerson was born in 1969 in the United States and is a performance and video artist. After completing studies in Literature, Arts, and Sciences at the University of Michigan, he attended a Film and Video program at the California Institute of the Arts. He has been named "the political conscience of American independent 21st century cinema" by Sight and Sound magazine. His films, including Distinguished Flying Cross (2011), were shown at many festivals including Sundance, Toronto International Film Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, Yamagata, and FID Marseille. He teaches directing at the prestigious Vassar College and co-founded Creative Agitation, a collective that is oriented towards revolutionary street art and direct action.
