Vitali Manski
Born in Lvov in 1963, Vitaly Mansky graduated from VGIK in 1989 and became one of the most acclaimed contemporary Russian documentary filmmakers and producers. He has shot more than 30 films as a director which screened at festivals worldwide and were awarded several times. As a producer, Mansky produced films by directors like Renata Litvinova, Alexander Rastorguyev, Sergey Miroshnichenko, Dmitry Zhelkovsky, and Sergei Loznitsa. In 1996 he also started a project that aims at archiving amateur and private video files that were shot in the times of the former USSR from the 30s to the 90s. He is the founder and president of the Artdocfest festival, dedicated to creative documentary cinema, which takes place in Riga and Moscow. Since 2014, Vitaly Mansky has been living and working in Latvia.
