There are movie characters who sometimes overflow from the frame and remain in our memories for a lifetime. Shana is one of those. Director Lila Pinell, after meeting Éva Huault when she was just a child, finds her again years later and writes a film inspired by her young adult life. It's the story of a young woman who finds detours to take control of her life and rebuild herself. Shana dares to do everything to try to live the dream life she deserves, finally far from troubles and from that painful relationship that haunts her. But obviously, her first obstacle is herself. "Le Roi David" is a true joy of cinema, as the collaboration between non-professional actors and the mastery of direction result in a gripping film, with dialogues and characters of unsettling accuracy, featuring already iconic punchlines.
