_ _After studying philosophy, Lila Pinell completed a master's degree in documentary filmmaking in Lussas. She directed her first film in 2009 and then began a long collaboration with Chloé Mahieu. Additionally, she has collaborated on various projects. Her films have been broadcasted on Arte, France 2, and screened at numerous festivals. Her first feature-length fiction film, Kiss & Cry, co-directed with Chloé Mahieu, was presented at the ACID in 2017 and was released in theaters the same year. Her medium-length film King David received the Grand Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival in 2022, as well as the Jean Vigo Prize for short film in 2021. It was nominated for the César Award for Best Short Film in 2023.
