Eliane Esther Bots was born in the Netherlands in 1986. She graduated from the Utrecht School of the Arts in 2008. In 2012, she participated in the postgraduate program "Documentary and Contemporary Art" at the European Higher School of Image. In 2016, she obtained a Master's in Filmmaking from the Film Academy in Amsterdam. Her films have been screened and exhibited at international festivals such as IDFA Amsterdam, Berlinale, Cinéma du Réel, New York Film Festival, and several others. In 2022, her film In Flow of Words received a Golden Calf at the Netherlands Film Festival and won the Best Documentary award at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival. She has served as a programmer for the Go Short Film Festival and currently works as a professor at the Utrecht School of the Arts in the Netherlands.
