Gala Hernández López is an artist, searcher and filmmaker born in 1993 in Spain, now living and working between Paris and Berlin. She combines interdisciplinary research with the production of docufictions, video installations, and performances on the new modes of subjectivation specifically generated by digital capitalism. She critically examines discourses and imaginaries circulating in virtual communities from a feminist perspective, considering them as symptomatic fictions of the state of the world. Her film The Mechanics of Fluids won the César for Best Short Documentary in 2024 and the 2023 Prize for Best Experimental Work from the Scam. She is a PhD candidate at the University Paris 8, where she is developing a research-creation project on screen capture and where she has taught for 3 years. She also co-directs the research and creation collective After Social Networks.
