Expiration was a definitive favourite of the Festival REGARD team, who were proud to award the film the Shoot No Matter What! prize, which celebrates films produced without institutional financial support.
With this thoughtful and delicately edited documentary, filmmaker Joris Cottin captures the final days of Steeve Day after his decision to request medical assistance in dying. Expiration tells a challenging story of a polarizing ethical debate. Its creative use of subtitles serves to give a voice to someone who deserves to be heard with a great deal of courage and emotion.
