Nicolas Wadimoff was born in 1964 in Geneva. He presented his first film, Le bol, in 1991 at Locarno. After Les gants d’or d’Akka in 1992, he co-directed, with Quebec filmmaker Denis Chouinard, the feature film Clandestins in 1997, which won numerous awards worldwide. Since then, he has pursued a dual career as both a director and producer. He notably produced Les secrets by Raja Amari (Venice 2008), Fix Me by Raed Andoni (Sundance and Cannes 2010), and Ghost Hunting by the same author, which won awards at the Berlinale in 2017. After L’accord in 2005, he directed Aisheen in 2009, which won awards at the Berlinale. In 2012, Opération Libertad was selected for the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes. In 2015, he won the prestigious Soleure Prize with his documentary Spartiates. In 2016, he presented Jean Ziegler, l’optimisme de la volonté as a world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival. In 2018, L’Apollon de Gaza opened the Locarno Critics' Week and had numerous festival selections worldwide.
