I adore films about ghosts, haunted films. I also adore when a place becomes a character. Here, it’s as if filmmaker Aucéane Roux invites us to a funerary wake, that of this stadium that lived through such a beautiful heyday. Her camera explores the abandoned stadium. A series of still shots with a sublime composition. Something austere is in the air. A sense of destruction and an emptiness. A sinister ambiance takes center stage. Then the camera sets itself to movement and sounds from the past take over the auditory landscape. Archival images slide onto the screen, taking possession of the film for an instant, triumphant. A transcendental cinematographic proposal carried by an impressive soundscape and exceptional editing!
