Née à Londres en 1955, Claire Simon est une réalisatrice, scénariste et monteuse française. Formée au cinéma documentaire aux Ateliers Varan, elle a réalisé de nombreux documentaires remarqués, notamment "Récréations" en 1993 et plus récemment "Le bois dont les rêves sont faits". Elle a été directrice du département réalisation de la Fémis. En 2016 son long-métrage "Le Concours" sur l’examen d’entrée à cette école est primé meilleur documentaire au Festival international du film de Venise. Claire Simon expérimente souvent une forme de cinéma à la frontière entre documentaire et fiction qui s'illustre notamment dans deux films "Géographie humaine", pendant documentaire de sa fiction "Gare du Nord".
