Brian Virostek is a filmmaker and an archivist. He attended BealArt in his hometown of London, Ontario, and obtained an MFA in film production from Concordia University in Montreal. While at Concordia, he carried out several film preservation projects at Visual Collections Repository. This work sparked the video mixing performance and eventual film Holiday Native Land, co-created with Nicolas Renaud (Jury Special Prize at RIDM 2023). His 16mm camera films include Self Aside (2021), Summer Echo (2016), and Island (2013). Brian Virostek currently works as an audiovisual archivist in the Cultural Archives Division at Library and Archives Canada.
