Catherine Catella is a French director and film editor of Italian origin. In her work, she has focused on the issues of exile and interculturality through various media (films, exhibitions, music). She particularly explores the memory of Italian immigrant workers. A chief editor for about twenty years, she writes, directs, and edits documentary films, several of them in collaboration with director Shu Aiello. A musician and singer, she has also contributed to specific projects related to Italian, Calabrian, and Sicilian music, often dealing with themes of resistance and exile.
Riace, Calabria. After 20 years of harmony, this village, which had made welcoming migrants its future, became the target of the populist wave consuming Italy. The venom has spread and Domenico Lucano, its mayor, is the object of a cabal and forced into exile. After months of painstaking destruction, Riace faces a dilemma: resist or disappear.
