Chadi Bennani graduated from the film program at the Université du Québec à Montréal in 2022. Developing his practice through a sensory approach to the cinematic medium, he structures his films around the relationship between memory and identity. During his studies, he directed his first short film, Nicole (2023), which was selected in competition at Hot Docs. He then directed Here and There (2023), which opened the RIDM and was also presented at the United Nations as part of the GMFF, as well as at DOXA. He is currently working on his first feature-length documentary, Au-delà des vagues, recipient of the National Film Board of Canada Award at the Doc Lab Montréal of the RIDM Forum in 2023. The project was presented at the Sheffield DocFest Market in 2025 and is supported by Main Film’s DOC! program. Alongside his directing career, Chadi Bennani also works as a cinematographer and photographer.
