A native of Quebec City, Christian Mathieu Fournier first studied film before becoming a director of photography in Montreal. He later turned to directing, which allowed him to explore the relationship between people and the land. Driven by a genuine desire to build trust prior to filming, he immerses himself in the human connection with his subjects and their truth. His films have been selected in numerous festivals and have earned him several awards in Quebec and abroad. In Waiting for Casimir, his most recent film, he draws freely on Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting for Godot and the pictorial work of Edward Hopper.
