Éléonor Gilbert lives and works in Grenoble, France, where she shares a studio with the artist collective Utopia182. Her work takes many forms, sometimes through exchange and co-creation, sometimes in a more solitary way, leading to exhibitions, workshops, and movies. Her short films often sit at the crossroads between fiction and documentary. They sometimes emerge from her daily life or are rooted in the contexts of the places where she works as a videographer—university, detention center, hospital, etc. Her films regularly address the question of the individual’s position within social space. Obedience, submission, and the complex process of creating zones of freedom are recurring themes through which she explores the world around her. Her most recent documentaries—Espace (2014), Hôtel Echo (2018), Mars côté Nord (2021), and Thun-le-Paradis ou la Balade d'Éloïse (2022)—have been shown at numerous festivals, both in France and abroad.
