Éléonore Weber is a writer, director, and filmmaker. Her work has so far been defined by a dual exploration of theatrical and cinematic languages. She first directed a short and a medium-length fiction film, Temps mort and Les hommes sans gravité. She then directed a documentary, Night Replay, co-written with Patricia Allio. Shot in Mexico, the film is based on a reenactment process designed around a role-playing game invented by migrants. In theater, she has created several plays and performances in collaboration with Patricia Allio, centered around a manifesto titled Symptôme et Proposition. Together or separately, the two artists have presented their works at the Avignon Festival, the Théâtre de la Bastille, the Grande Halle de la Villette, and the Centre Pompidou for the Festival d’Automne. In 2020, she directed Il n’y aura plus de nuit, which was selected for numerous festivals worldwide. In 2022, she was chosen to serve on the jury for the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
_There Will Be No More Night_ relies on footage captured by thermal cameras used by the American and French armies in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. By diverting these images from the propaganda narratives in which they are typically embedded, the film examines the dangers of an unchecked desire to see, prompting a reflection on the new paradigms of modern warfare.
