Erin Weisgerber is an artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal who exploits the photochemical, material, and sonic properties of film to create installations, performances, and short films situated between figuration and abstraction. A member of the Double Negative Collective and a regular collaborator on the audiovisual project Jerusalem in My Heart alongside Radwan Ghazi Moumneh since 2019, she transforms film stock through physical and chemical manipulations to reveal interior landscapes. Her work has been presented internationally at prestigious festivals such as Karlovy Vary, Oberhausen, and Ann Arbor, as well as in institutions like the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Matadero Madrid, and the Cinémathèque québécoise. In addition to a noted filmography including Dans les cieux et sur la terre (2022) and Qalouli (2020), Weisgerber develops a live practice through direct film performances, notably with musician Liam O’Neill, and immersive installations like Minerva’s Owl, which utilizes film loops and multiple projections.
