Born in Chile in 1988 to a family from the Palestinian diaspora, Francisca Khamis Giacoman is an artist now based in Amsterdam. Through the mediums of video art, performance, and installations, he is invested in unearthing memories and preserving oral tradition, and tries to engage with the malleable quality of time by listening to traces of the past, understanding how it materializes the present moment. She attempts to communicate from within an experience of a fragmented existence, using humor and treating with lightness the lived experience of being in a position of unknowing. Her video and sound works use family archives to focus on the solidification of in-between identities. Khamis Giacoman has exhibited her works at various places including Biblioteka in London, ExtraCiy in Antwerp, Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, Stroom in Den Haag and Gold+Beton, Cologne. Baisanos (2025) is the first film she made in collaboration with her brother, filmmaker and artist Andrés Khamis Giacoman.
