Iván Castiñeiras Gallego is a filmmaker, screenwriter, and cinematographer born in 1980 in Ourense, Galicia. He holds degrees in Art History from the University of Santiago de Compostela and in Film from the Lisbon Theatre and Film School (ESTC). He also studied at the École Louis-Lumière in Paris and completed a postgraduate program in film directing at ESCAC in Barcelona. In 2016, he graduated from Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains, and in 2017 he took part in the Frontières residency, co-organized by G.R.E.C. and the Musée national de l'histoire de l'immigration. In 2020, he participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus and was selected as an artist member of the Académie de France at the Casa de Velázquez. As a cinematographer, he worked on films by Diana Toucedo, Miguel Cabral, June Balthazard, and Ángel Santos. As a filmmaker, he directed the short films A raia (2012), Where Is the Jungle? (2015), Beaten Paths (2016), and Trajectory Drift (2018). Filmed over a period of fifteen years, Deuses de pedra (Gods of Stone) is his first feature-length film.
