Laurie Colbert (born in Canada, in 1958) and Dominique Cardona (born in Algeria in 1955) have worked together on numerous films, including Thank God I'm a Lesbian in 1992 and Finn's Girl in 2007. Their award-winning work focuses on the contemporary struggles of the LGBT community. More recently, Cardona and Colbert have branched out into fiction filmmaking. With Margarita, made in 2012, they explore political and social issues by telling the story of a young immigrant nanny working for a family in Canada. In 2017, they directed Catch and Release, an adaptation of the play Keely and Du.
