Louis Hanquet grew up between Paris and the southwest of France. After studying documentary filmmaking in Buenos Aires (Universidad Nacional de San Martín, 2015) and Paris (Master DEMC, 2016), he worked as an assistant to Sébastien Lifshitz on the shoots of Adolescentes (2019) and Petite fille (2020). He has also worked as director of photography on award-winning documentaries (Victor Missud’s La forêt de l’espace, Laure Bioulès’ La Lumière bleue, Thibault Verneret’s Deux rives). A Shepherd is his first feature-length documentary.
Félix, a young, melancholic, and secretive shepherd, leads a timeless life in a mineral, inaccessible world where an invisible threat lurks: the wolf. Solitude envelops his days in the mountains, filled with tending to the lambs, setting up fences, and poetry.
