Megan Wennberg is a documentary filmmaker based in Nova Scotia, Canada. Her feature documentaries about child drag queens (Drag Kids, 2019), senior synchronized swimmers (Unsyncable, 2023), and vigilante murder (The Killing of Phillip Boudreau, 2020) have screened and won awards at top festivals around the world like BFI Flair, DOC NYC, Hot Docs and Rotterdam. Bloody Mess is her first animated documentary, and her first personal project.
When filmmaker Megan Wennberg's period went nuts, she thought her Uterus was out for revenge because she was almost 40 and hadn't given it a baby. But it turned out she had fibroids. _Bloody Mess_ is a short, personal, animated documentary following Megan and her Uterus (voiced by actor Susan Kent) on their harrowing but darkly funny journey through the medical system to try and stop the bleeding.
