After studying at Sciences Po in Paris and completing an internship at France Culture, Mélanie Schaan worked in film production for Les Films du Bélier and Les Films Pelléas before gaining experience on film sets (with the directing team, camera crew, and casting). She is now a creative documentary filmmaker and also works as a script supervisor and music advisor for recordings of plays, operas, and symphonic concerts for French and international channels. She completed the documentary writing residency at Ardèche Images in Lussas, France. In 2020, she co-directed Akeji, The Breath of the Mountain with Corentin Leconte.
